Behind the Name
Throughout Scripture there is reference to the Holy Mountain, Mount Sinai, where the Israelites believed the presence of God physically dwelt.
The foundational verse of Holy Mountain, Psalm 43:3, says, “Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.” Here, the writer, in exile, is desiring to escape the wickedness of the world. The suffering, sorrow, and doubt that they are experiencing. They are wanting to go back to the Holy Mountain where escape and rest can be found. Where their identity is rooted and established.
Today, we know that people are seeking these same things. We are longing for rest. Longing for direction and guidance. Longing for a sure and stable identity. Longing to belong.
That’s why Holy Mountain exists.
